Al Roker Says His Family Protected Him from Knowing How Severe His Health Situation Was
NBC Today Show Host Shares Appreciation for Family's Support
Roker Expresses Gratitude for Family's Protection and Support
NEW YORK, NY - Al Roker, the beloved weatherman and co-host of NBC's Today show, has expressed his gratitude for his family's support during his recent health struggles. After being hospitalized twice in November 2022 for a blood clot issue, Roker revealed that his family intentionally kept him in the dark about the severity of his condition.
"My family didn't tell me how sick I was," Roker said during a recent interview. "They wanted me to focus on getting better, not on worrying about the worst-case scenario." Roker's wife, Deborah Roberts, and their children collectively decided to shield him from the full extent of his health challenges, believing that it would give him the best chance at recovery.
Roker praised his family's decision, crediting them with helping him maintain a positive mindset throughout his ordeal. "I'm so grateful for my family," he said. "They've been my rock, and they've helped me through this whole thing." Roker is currently recovering at home and is expected to return to the Today show in the near future.
