Early Life and Career

Roker was born on August 20, 1954, in New York City. He graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a degree in broadcast journalism. Roker began his career in television as a weathercaster for WTVH in Syracuse, New York. He later worked as a weathercaster for WNBC in New York City and WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio.

Today Show

In 1996, Roker joined the Today Show as the weather anchor. He has since become one of the most popular and recognizable faces on the show. Roker is known for his cheerful personality and his ability to make complex weather forecasts understandable to viewers.

Height Discrepancy

There is some discrepancy about Roker's height. His official website lists him as 6 feet tall, but other sources, including the Guinness Book of World Records, list him as 5 feet 7 inches tall. Roker has joked about the discrepancy, saying, "I'm 5 feet 11 inches on a good day, but I'm 6 feet tall on my driver's license."
