Early Life and Education

Katarzyna Kotula was born in Gryfino, Poland in February 1977. She studied English philology at the University of Szczecin and earned a PhD in gender studies from the University of Warsaw.

Political Career

Kotula entered politics in 2008 when she was elected to the Polish Parliament for the Lewica (Left) party. She served as the Minister of Equality from 2015 to 2017. In her role, she advocated for women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice.

Social Activism

Beyond her political career, Kotula has been an active social activist. She is the founder of the Association for Legal Intervention, a non-profit organization that provides legal aid to victims of discrimination. She is also a member of the Polish Feminist Association.
